Keeping your fish healthy is a very important factor of fish keeping. The water needs to be kept maintained as well as the fish themselves. Knowing which diseases and infections fish are susceptible to and knowing how to treat them is important. API manufacture treatments to combat various illnesses.

Treating Bacterial Infections

Symptoms of bacterial disease include fin and tail rot, eye cloud, body slime, mouth fungus, blood streaks in fins and body, and open red sores.

Using API Melafix:

  • Treats bacterial fish disease
  • Reduces the risk of spreading disease to healthy fish
  • Contains the natural active ingredient, Melaleuca (Tea Tree extract)
  • Repairs tissue and fins damaged from handling and netting
  • Safe for use with even the most delicate fish species
  • Will not colour the water, stain ornaments or alter pH
  • Will not harm aquarium plants

*When treating bacterial disease, the best course of treatment will depend on the type of bacteria being treated. So alternate medications may be required.

Treating Fungal Infections

Fungus appears as white, cottony tufts or patches on the mouth, skin and fins.

API Pimafix:

  • Rapidly treats fungal infections
  • Treats internal and external bacterial infections
  • Contains the natural active ingredient, Pimenta racemosa (West Indian Bay Tree)
  • Broad spectrum treatment prevents pathogens from developing resistance (as can happen with antibiotics)
  • Safe for use with even the most delicate fish species

Use with Melafix to synergistically treat a broad range of infections.

Treating ICK (White Spot)

“Ick” is one of the most common fish diseases. It is caused by a parasite (“Ichthyophthirius”) that burrows into the gill and skin tissue of fish.

“Ick” is highly contagious and should be treated as soon as symptoms are observed.

Symptoms include:

  • Laboured breathing
  • Rapid darting around the aquarium
  • Scratching against objects
  • White spots on fins, body and eyes

Super Ick Cure works fast to kill the “Ick” parasite, usually within 24 hours and helps heal the fish’s natural slime coat which is damaged by the parasite.

It also helps prevent secondary infection and also treats other external parasites including Trichodina, Chilodonella, and Oodinium (velvet).

Boost Fish Health

General fish health can be supported by adding aquarium salt to freshwater aquariums

  • Promotes healthy gill function; improves fish respiration
  • Adds essential electrolytes fish need to reach peak coloration and health
  • Promotes disease recovery
  • Improves efficiency of medications
  • Reduces the harmful effects of nitrite
  • All natural – made from evaporated sea water.
